Located in the heart of downtown Livermore at 1722 First St, Vine Cinema Alehouse serves as a unique cultural landmark for the local community. This establishment bridges the gap between traditional cinema and a relaxed social environment, offering guests a place to unwind while enjoying quality entertainment. By combining the nostalgic charm of a neighborhood theater with the welcoming atmosphere of a local alehouse, the venue has become a staple for residents and visitors alike who appreciate a slower pace of life in the bustling East Bay area.
The philosophy behind the space is simple: provide a comfortable setting where the art of film meets the appreciation of craft beverages. Whether you are looking to catch a new release, revisit a classic favorite, or simply spend an evening in a cozy, intimate setting, the venue is designed to cater to those who value both storytelling and community connection. The architecture and interior layout reflect a commitment to preserving the character of the building while ensuring that every guest feels right at home from the moment they step through the doors.
What Makes the Experience Unique
A Curated Cinematic Atmosphere: Unlike large-scale multiplexes, the theater focuses on providing an intimate viewing experience. The smaller auditorium size allows for better sightlines and a more personal connection to the films being showcased, making it an ideal destination for cinephiles who prefer a quiet and focused environment.
Community-Centric Gathering Space: The alehouse component serves as a social hub for the Livermore community. It is a place where neighbors can gather before or after a screening to discuss the film, share a drink, and enjoy the company of others, fostering a sense of belonging that is often missing in modern entertainment venues.
Prime Downtown Location: Situated on First Street, the venue is perfectly positioned within the vibrant downtown district of Livermore, California. Its central location makes it an accessible stop for those spending a day exploring the local shops, parks, and other cultural attractions that define this historic city.
Commitment to Quality and Comfort: Every aspect of the guest experience is prioritized to ensure maximum comfort. From the seating arrangements to the selection of beverages available, the focus remains on quality over quantity, ensuring that every visitor leaves with a positive impression of their time spent at the establishment.
The dedication to maintaining a high standard of service and atmosphere is evident in the way the staff interacts with guests and the care taken in managing the facility. By focusing on the fundamentals of hospitality, the team ensures that the venue remains a relevant and cherished part of the Livermore landscape. It is not just about the movies or the drinks; it is about the collective experience of sharing a space with others in a meaningful way.
As the entertainment landscape continues to evolve, places like Vine Cinema Alehouse remain essential for their ability to offer something authentic. They remind us that the magic of cinema is best experienced in a setting that feels personal and grounded. For those living in or traveling through Livermore, a visit to this First Street location offers a refreshing alternative to the standard night out, providing a blend of culture, comfort, and community that is hard to replicate elsewhere.
Whether you are a long-time resident of the Tri-Valley area or just passing through, the doors at 1722 First St are open to those who appreciate a thoughtful approach to leisure. We invite you to experience the unique charm of our theater and alehouse, where every visit is an opportunity to slow down, enjoy a great film, and connect with the vibrant spirit of Livermore. We look forward to welcoming you to our space and sharing the simple pleasure of a well-spent evening.

I absolutely loved this place. It has an old school charm, but the equipment and everything was super high quality. The popcorn shrimp was delicious and the pricing was super reasonable. I will definitely be returning. More

What a gem! This place is the ultimate combo of cinema, casual banquet, and ale-garden energy rolled into one brilliant experience. I’m obsessed with the easygoing yet electric atmosphere it’s like your favorite living room got a giant screen and a rotating beer tap. The prices for shows and snacks feel fair, and there’s a great selection of craft beers, wines, and snacks to sip and snack on. Service here is super attentive and peppy; every team member is upbeat and adds to the warm, welcoming vibe. The lobby and theaters are spotless, seating options range from cozy sofas to classic chairs, and it’s just a ridiculously fun spot to chill with friends, grab delicious popcorn, and enjoy something you won’t get at a cookie-cutter movie theater.

The theatre has a retro vibe. I have been here couple of times. It gives a unique experience. Apart from regular seating it has a few rows of sofa like comfortable seats with a small table in front to keep your snacks, soda, beer while watching your movie.
The food you get there are most likely frozen ones which are reheated. Popcorn shrimp is one of them. Their popcorn is fine as well. I am not a fan of their food.
This is definitely a great spot to chill and watch a movie with your partner or friends while sipping a beer.

My fiancée and I saw the new Frankenstein (awesome movie btw) and this theater was perfection. It’s an old school theater where you can buy alcohol, coffee, and different kinds of meals. We had the popcorn shrimp and it was extremely flavorful. The theater room was really big and the chairs were extremely comfortable. The room is almost pitch black when the movie begins and the sound quality is stellar. I have zero complaints about this movie theater. I love supporting locally owned businesses and this place is AMAZING.

The interior is nice, plus clean and theater was large. They have couches and tables and chairs. I love being comfortable watching a movie. Their food leaves a lot to be desired. My kids’ pizza and chicken strips were microwave food; same as from a grocery or convenience mart, but expensive. I will nor ever eat there again.

This is a very interesting place to watch movies. Every time I go there I wonder why they don't get more business and worry if they will survive. On the positive they have survived the pandemic!
We watched a movie during the week and it was not crowded. You can choose a couch or seats with a table to eat/drink while watching the movie. It is a clean place.
Food menu selections are limited and the quality of food has gone down. I seem to recall that the food used to be served from the neighboring restaurant, which is quite popular. Now they cook (or assemble) items in their little kitchen.
Some room for improvement. But I will continue to support this place.
