This experience had its ups and downs. Food AMAZING! Service horrible. As a single diner, I don't expect much. But, I was never checked in on, I never got the oil I asked for and Fernando was more interested in entertaining his 3 and 4 top tables. To be honest, I'm glad he didn't bring me the oil because I ended up using the bread to clean my plate! I felt pretty ignored the entire time I was seated. I even saw a mouse and was met with a "you must have seen something different" from the staff member I pointed it out to. I will come back again, because the food speaks for itself. But my standards on service will be much lower next time.

I love La Nonna. I got the Rigatoni alla Vodka about a month ago when I was in town and I loved it so much. So flavorful & delicious. Today I came back specifically for the Rigatoni alla Vodka and it was just as delicious as I remembered. … More

My mother and I appreciate the delicacy of culinary arts and fine dining. We have traveled to different parts of the world and visited a wide variety of restaurants.
We have been to Italy for culinary tours and cooking classes. We can quickly distinguish the good from the bad, even before stepping in and tasting the food! We recently stumbled upon La Nonna in Little Italy, New York City, on our way home from Europe to the States. We walked the streets of Little Italy and were quickly welcomed by a kind-looking greeter at the restaurant’s entrance. I wish I had gotten his name because he made a strong impression on us as we debated which restaurant to dine at. I just had a gut feeling his restaurant would be good! We told him we would return the next day, and as promised, we did.
When we returned the next day, the greeter recognized us right away. He took us inside of the restaurant and quickly seated us at one of the finest spots, overlooking the main entrance and next to the bar. Wanting to try something extraordinary, we ordered the lobster seafood pasta. Although it took a while for the kitchen to prepare the dish, it was well worth the wait. The photos and videos didn’t do it justice—the dish was absolutely delicious! The blend of flavors lingered and wrapped around our tongues. I wish there were a vocabulary to describe just how good it was.
Despite being stuffed, we decided to try their desserts, opting for the chocolate truffle and tiramisu, which we paired with coffee. Again, they were delicious. While there are many restaurants on that same strip, you must make a stop at La Nonna. It will be worth your time and money! Thank you La Nonna for giving me and my mother such a great dining experience! We know we will see you the next time we stop by NYC again!

We stayed in Manhattan and took the subway (exiting at Canal) to get to the restaurant. Parking in the nearby garage is difficult and expensive if metered parking is not available!

We took a 50 minute cab ride for this meal. They were very nice people, but the food was trash. I ordered the filet in wine sauce. Filet was super overcooked and the wine sauce wasn’t reduced enough and super bitter. I had asked for a side of pasta instead of potatoes and veggies. They said they might charge me a little extra. I took one bite of the steak and pushed away. I ate most of the pasta. The bread was good. He didn’t even care that I took one bite. Didn’t ask what they could do. He could care less. Charged me for the full meal.
And charged me for a whole other entree for pasta.
Go to Zia Maria this place it terrible.

This place is amazing! Service was excellent, food was delicious (there were five adults, two kids) - we ordered different things and shared bites. Each was more delicious but all were fabulous. Highly recommend. Great cozy vibes - did not feel touristy but a familiar local gem.

A quick run down of my very long review. If on the fence about where to eat in Little Italy. CHOOSE La Nonna's and enjoy a fantastic meal in a super cute environment with impeccable service.
We were walking through looking at various menus & restaurants when we came across La Nonna and spoke with the most delightful man who sang his Italian melodys to my daughter & myself. He had the voice of an angel. We did decide to continue on and check out all the restaurants down the street before making up our mind. After talking with different people & reading a ton of menus we decided between La Nonna's & a place next door so we headed back that direction. We got back over and as soon as I heard that beautiful voice again I was instantly relaxed and that was the tie breaker.
I wasn't sorry. Our waiter was very pleasant. We had drinks and appetizers while we waited on someone else to join us. The waiter was attentive and patient as we waited, kept our water filled and the drinks flowing. He brought us some bread as well with butter. It was delicious! We ordered the Brushetta, which I didn't exactly love but hear me out, it was my own fault. I don't like a lot of raw onion and the menu clearly said it had onion but I was thinking it would just be a little bit, but it gave too much of an onion flavor. This is just my personal tastes and not the fault of La Nonnas. I would order it again but ask for no onions. Our entree's were fabulous. My husband & I ordered the Pollo Speciale and a dish of linguini with olive oil & garlic to share. It was so delicious, like seriously so good! The vegetables that came with it were cooked and seasoned to perfection. My daughter had the Rigatoni alla Vodka and added grilled chicken to it. It was also very good. We all had leftovers to take home. Oh and I had a lemon drop martini...Yummy!
I was in town from Texas, visiting my daughter who lives in the area and when I come for my next visit I'll definitely be back to La Nonna's to be serenaded and for a phenomenal meal!! I wish I had gotten his name but I was too entranced by the voice. You know who you are, Thank you sir for making our night special and certainly one to remember.😀 (I wish I had pictures of the food but I was busy eating it)
