Our first time here, why did it take us so long? This is a beautiful restaurant next to the Mint Museum uptown. Everything we have was amazing. Terrence and staff took excellent care of us and explained the menus, and made great recommendations. There are plenty of options to share plates so you can sample many dishes. They have indoor and outside patio. Lovely decor and very clean. We will be back to try more things on the menu. We visited again and tried more small plates. Emily, our server was the best! Her attention to our conversation got us 2 cherries in our whiskey sour (not pictured)

This place is more the hype of it and where it’s at, than the actual quality of the food. This restaurant overall was very beautiful and caught the eye, it also has nice live music. Drinks were okay and refreshing. The food.. not the best, overpriced and came to the table cold. I got the Peruvian chicken bowl and the chicken was dry and without any flavor. Definitely my food was not worth its price.. customer service was okay, felt the server was only going to another specific table more than others. I don’t think I’ll be coming back to Mariposa

I had a fantastic experience at Mariposa, thanks in large part to our server, Paige, and the bartender, Katie. I’m very particular about my drinks and have a very specific way I like them made. Paige went above and beyond by accommodating my unusual request and even allowing me to assemble my drink myself — something I truly appreciated. Everything was brought out perfectly and thoughtfully, and the drinks were excellent every time.
The food and service were outstanding, and Paige’s recommendations were spot on. What really stood out, though, was her attention to detail and kindness. When I realized later that I had accidentally left something behind, I called the restaurant, and Paige immediately remembered me, located the item, labeled it, and kept it safe for pickup. That level of care is rare.
I’ll absolutely be coming back, and I hope to have Paige as my server again. Kudos to both Paige and Katie for making the evening such a great experience.

Sat at the bar on a Wednesday evening after exploring the museum. Relaxing and sophisticated. Could not find the name of this cocktail but it was good and love the touch of the butterfly to suit the theme of the place. This is a great place to go solo, with another person, or a group. A nice option in town.

Mariposa is an absolute gem! The food is a true adventure for the taste buds. My Peruvian chicken bowl was a perfect symphony of flavors—each bite was an exciting and unexpected treat. My husband's lamb burger was cooked to perfection and just as delicious. To top it all off, the "Metamorphosis" cocktail was a beautiful, refreshing treat that was perfectly balanced and not too sweet. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

My wife and I came to Mariposa during Restaurant Week Jan. 2026 and enjoyed it, but not enough that we’ll return any time soon.
The restaurant itself is beautiful and well-decorated, and we enjoyed sitting on comfortable sofas for dinner.
Our waitress, Greer (sp?), was very good.
My Chasu Pork Belly for the opening course was a delicious & unusual combination of flavors, and my wife enjoyed her Tuna Poke Tacos. We both chose the Steak au Poivre for the main course, and this was the most disappointing part of the meal. The 6oz sirloin was perfectly cooked at medium rare, but at least 1/3 of my sirloin was inedible gristle. I brought this to Greer’s attention, and she got the manager. She apologized and said that they would discount my meal….but more on that later.
My wife’s Crème Brûlée was good, but not excellent. Same for my Chocolate Tres Leches. Good, but nothing special. Not worth the 30 minute drive from south Charlotte.
So we reached the end of the meal and got the check, only to learn that my meal was NOT, in fact, discounted. What they did, was remove the automatic 20% gratuity they normally add. I’m sorry - WHAT?! Yes, there was the opportunity for me to add a gratuity, which of course I did, because Greer didn’t deserve to be penalized for something out of her control, but that is NOT the same as a discount.
To be fair, it’s Restaurant Week, and the meal was already steeply discounted - $55 for a 3-course meal at such a nice restaurant is ridiculously low. Heck, if they had taken just $5 off, I’d have been fine with the gesture. But to just take off the automatic gratuity, such that I had to chose between Greer getting a tip for her work or nothing, is not a “discount.”
Maybe if our meal had been at full fee, they’d have done more, but if I’d paid $40 (their usual price), I’d have been way more upset with 1/3 of the steak being inedible.
Very misleading and disappointing/dishonest move by management.

I brought my mother out for a Mom/Daughter dinner and everything about this place exceeded our expectations. Asia was also phenomenal! She guided us through so many wonderful food choices and was a delight to speak with. The view was incredible, drinks 🍹 hit perfectly, meal-perfection, and the dessert was delicious! We will definitely return! Thank you Asia for helping make this night with my mom extra special!

What a fun place for brunch. I was pleasantly surprised with this location. There was a wide variety of items that are not expected for a traditional brunch menu. The corn fritters and kimchi rice were phenomenal. I would also recommend getting the dollar bloody Mary, which was not over the top and perfect to mix with your breakfast food.
