Love our little family-owned, sushi/teriyaki spot. Staff is incredibly friendly and the food is delicious. I don't eat sushi, but my kiddo tells me it's yummy. I love the donburri bowls, especially the beef bowl, made with rib-eye. Don't miss this quaint little restaurant.

What a great little sushi place in Monterey. Food was fresh, fast and tasty. The atmosphere felt like being in someone's home - comforting. The breadth of the menu is something to behiold - it looks as if they will run out of wall space. Recommend. More

First time here, and was very happy with the taste and quality of our sushi rolls. We ordered the Dragon, and Happy Island, and they were delicious. The reason I'm not giving a 5-star is because of the price, and the wait. I waited for 29 … More

We stopped here for lunch. The teriyaki bowl was good flavorful although it can use less rice and more meat and vegetables. We ordered the jumbo spicy tuna roll and it was a bit dry and too much rice as well! The service was good and friendly

Delicious food at a fair price, warm service and fantastic options for everyone. My partner and I ordered different donburi bowls and could clearly taste that they were freshly prepared. I was able to also get some extra hot sauce and Japanese pepper which really took the dish to the next level. We noticed lots of families enjoying lunch here and an array of grab & go snacks. It’s also one of the only local spots that charges fair prices for Japanese snacks like candy and taiyaki (some of the other candy shops downtown charge twice the price for the same thing). We’re only in-town for a wedding but will definitely return anytime we’re in the area.

We are in Monterey for the week and were looking for no-frills sushi since we are traveling with an infant. Ocean Sushi Deli popped up on our search and we are so glad it did. The staff was so friendly and the food was good! The prices were reasonable as well. We are already thinking about going back again before the end of the week.

A little piece of Japan in Monterey Bay. This shop has a ton of authentic Japanese products and food. They have great flavor and vegan and gluten free options. The service was really good and everyone was really nice and patient in explaining the menu. I would definently come here again.

All right! Very little fish in the roll thin slivers of fish on top of the roll and not flavorful at all. Very disappointing, especially when I asked for a very light rice.

Excellent cafe that's been around long enough that I've been going there for more than fifteen years. Feels like very little has changed in that time.
Good food, good service, free tea. Feels a lot more like a place you'd actually find in Japan than many more upscale places do.
It's a staple and icon of downtown Monterey.

What a find. So glad we made the effort after the aquarium (amazing) to make the short drive up to here.
It’s nothing to look at inside, just a few wonky tables and chairs. But the huge menu, the freshness of the fish and the charm of the staff will win you over.
If I worked in downtown Monterey, I’d be here every week.

We went to Tokyo last winter and this shop reminded us of many mornings we spent at Tsukiji Fish Market. The shop is very casual which contribute to homie feeling and affordable price.
The shopkeepers are so friendly and make sure we got what we needed!
Since I could hardly find any Ikura in OK. I got like 5 Ikura nikiri sushi and I was just in heaven! Very fresh and tasted amazing!
Thank you for taking care of us.

This is one of my favorite places to go for California rolls But when I got here yesterday, they had a salmon lunch special that I couldn’t resist. Everything was made to perfection. My other go to secret dish that I love here is their red snapper dinner plate and so affordable. I highly recommend this restaurant and my other tip is to call ahead when you can.

A large, very Japanese menu, not limited to sushi but including things not often seen, like shioyaki saba and an extraordinary eel bowl. Small, with a very family-owned feel. Extremely friendly people, very kind and generous. Popular, so you have to navigate it possibly being quite full, but absolutely worth the effort. I'm not a big fan of how, these days, you gotta drop $100 to get a full dinner for four, but this place is DEFINITELY the place to do that.

I can deal with the absolute lack of ambience, but the food….yikes. This sushi makes the gas station variety seem like haut cuisine. My salmon skin roll featured salmon straight out of a can. Seriously? I’m not even sure it was salmon. It tasted like Chicken of the Sea.

Sometimes, all you want is a bite of home — the kind that tastes like Japan even when you’re miles away. Ocean Sushi Deli delivers exactly that. From authentic onigiri to miso soup, and bento boxes that feel like a full-on culinary hug, this place had us hooked the moment we walked in.
The lunch specials are not to be missed — it’s the kind of deal that makes you forget about your afternoon meetings and just focus on the joy of good food. So good, in fact, we ended up going twice in one week. Yes, it was that irresistible.
The staff is genuinely friendly, attentive, and welcoming, making you feel like a regular even on your first visit. Fair warning: lunch hour is busy, but that’s just proof that this little gem is doing something right.
If you’ve been craving a taste of Japan, this is your spot — cozy, authentic, and utterly satisfying.
