Located in the heart of the community at 285 Main St, Oneonta, NY 13820, Sal's New Classic Pizzeria stands as a testament to the enduring appeal of traditional pizza making. Our establishment is built upon a foundation of passion, quality ingredients, and a deep respect for the culinary techniques that have defined the art of the perfect pie for generations. We believe that pizza is more than just a meal; it is a centerpiece for gathering, a comfort food that brings people together, and a craft that requires patience and dedication to master.
Stepping into our shop, you are greeted by the inviting aroma of dough rising and the savory scent of bubbling cheese. We have carefully curated an environment that feels like a home away from home, where locals and visitors alike can enjoy a slice or a full pie in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Our commitment to our craft is reflected in every aspect of our operation, from the sourcing of our flour and tomatoes to the precise temperature control of our ovens. We understand that the secret to a great pizza lies in the balance of flavors and the texture of the crust, and we strive to achieve that harmony with every order we prepare.
What Sets Us Apart
Authentic Preparation Methods: We utilize time-honored techniques to ensure that our dough is handled with care, resulting in a crust that is both crisp and airy. By allowing our dough to ferment properly, we develop a depth of flavor that is often lost in modern, rushed production methods.
Quality Ingredient Sourcing: We prioritize the use of high-quality components, selecting ingredients that meet our rigorous standards for freshness and taste. Whether it is the richness of our signature sauce or the quality of our cheese blends, we believe that the integrity of the final product begins with the quality of its parts.
Community-Centric Atmosphere: Situated on Main Street, we view ourselves as an integral part of the Oneonta neighborhood. Our goal is to provide a consistent and reliable dining experience that serves as a reliable staple for families, students, and professionals in the area.
Consistency and Craftsmanship: We take pride in the repeatability of our work. Our kitchen team is trained to maintain a high level of precision, ensuring that whether you visit us for a quick lunch or a relaxed dinner, the quality of your meal remains consistently excellent.
Beyond the pizza itself, we are deeply invested in the experience of our guests. We recognize that dining out is an opportunity to disconnect from the stresses of the day and connect with those around you. Our space is designed to facilitate these moments, providing a backdrop of warmth and hospitality that complements the food we serve. We are constantly refining our processes to better serve our patrons, listening to feedback, and adapting to the needs of our community while staying true to the classic principles that define our brand.
The journey of creating a classic pizzeria is an ongoing process of learning and improvement. We are grateful for the support of the Oneonta community, which has allowed us to continue doing what we love. Every pie that leaves our kitchen represents our dedication to the craft and our appreciation for the people who choose to dine with us. We invite you to visit us at 285 Main St to experience the difference that genuine care and traditional methods can make.
A Commitment to Quality
At Sal's New Classic Pizzeria, we understand that the landscape of dining is constantly evolving, yet the desire for a well-made, honest meal remains constant. We remain steadfast in our commitment to avoiding shortcuts, choosing instead to invest the necessary time and effort to deliver a product that we are proud to put our name on. Our focus is not on trends or gimmicks, but on the fundamentals of good food: fresh ingredients, skilled preparation, and a welcoming environment.
We look forward to continuing our tradition of serving the Oneonta area and welcoming new guests into our shop. Whether you are a long-time resident or just passing through, we hope that your experience with us is memorable and satisfying. Thank you for being a part of our story and for allowing us to share our passion for pizza with you. We invite you to stop by, say hello, and enjoy a slice of our classic approach to one of the world's most beloved foods.

First time trying this place out and I have to say, I had THE BEST 2 slices of pizza. I got a Pepperoni slice and a Chicken, Bacon, Ranch slice. The CBR slice had some extra ranch put on it after being popped in the oven for a few minutes, and it was perfect. Highly recommend this place

Had a half pep half cheese pie that was burned and not worth eating. $22 down the drain. This was my first time trying the place so that's a real bummer. More

This place makes THE best real NY pizza around, and for those who are gluten free, I can tell you they do it really right. My young son has Celiac's, so this isn't a trendy diet. Sal's bakes their GF pies on their own tray so it doesn't get cross contaminated! They even give you a special pizza cutter. Well done!

Their customer for the past 2 1/2 years I’ve been going here good pizza however I witness one of the workers unfortunately tell a man who served in the military that he can’t get a military discount. I find that incredibly disrespectful as someone with family who served in the military, who fought for this owner’s freedom to open a pizzeria. Can’t even give a 10% discount to this man who fought for our freedom in this country. What a shame. I will never step foot in that place again.

I was in town for a baseball tournament and just wanted to grab a couple slices, so I stopped in randomly. I was really surprised how good the pizza was. My wife had a couple bites and even she was surprised how good it was. Being from Buffalo NY we have a lot of good pizzerias and this one was good! More

We were in town for baseball tournament at Cooperstown. Stopped for lunch with the team and we were promptly taken care of and got our food fast. Pizza was hot and so good. There was an equipment issue forcing the owner to shut off the water which made him turn away new customers. He apologized to us several times for the water being off but allowed us to stay while we finished our meal.the owner then gave us the remaining pizza for free. Amazing experience and would go again!

$12.22 for two slices of pizza! That’s criminal. Gave me an attitude about asking for a small box to take my pizza to go, and left my pizza in the oven until it was burnt. Unbelievable. Never again. More
