Discovering T-Swirl Crepe in the Heart of Chinatown
Located at 2 Mott St, New York, NY 10013, T-Swirl Crepe offers a unique culinary experience that bridges the gap between traditional Japanese street food and modern dessert artistry. Situated in the vibrant and historic neighborhood of Chinatown, this establishment has become a destination for those seeking a delicate balance of texture and flavor. The concept revolves around the Japanese-style crepe, which is distinct from its French counterpart due to the use of a specialized rice flour batter. This choice of ingredients results in a signature texture that is crisp on the outside while remaining soft and chewy on the inside, providing a satisfying foundation for a wide array of sweet and savory fillings.
The atmosphere at the Mott Street location reflects the fast-paced yet appreciative nature of New York City dining. As you step inside, the open kitchen layout allows patrons to observe the meticulous process of crepe preparation. Each crepe is crafted to order, ensuring that the integrity of the ingredients is maintained from the griddle to the hand-held cone. Whether you are a local resident navigating the bustling streets of Lower Manhattan or a visitor exploring the cultural landmarks of the area, T-Swirl Crepe provides a convenient and high-quality option for a quick snack or a light meal that does not compromise on culinary standards.
What Sets T-Swirl Crepe Apart
Gluten-Free Innovation: The core of the menu is built upon a proprietary 100% rice flour batter. This thoughtful approach makes the crepes naturally gluten-free, catering to a diverse range of dietary preferences without sacrificing the structural integrity or the delightful crunch that defines the brand's signature style.
Artisanal Preparation: Every crepe is treated as a canvas. The staff follows precise techniques to spread the batter thinly and evenly, ensuring a consistent texture across the entire surface. This dedication to the craft ensures that each bite offers the perfect ratio of filling to crepe, highlighting the freshness of the fruits, creams, and savory components used.
Versatile Flavor Profiles: The menu is designed to satisfy various cravings throughout the day. From decadent dessert options featuring fresh berries, custard, and chocolate drizzles to savory selections that incorporate fresh vegetables, proteins, and house-made sauces, there is a profile to suit every palate. The ability to transition seamlessly from a sweet treat to a substantial lunch option is a hallmark of their menu design.
Strategic Location: Positioned at the intersection of Mott Street, the shop serves as a perfect pit stop for those traversing between the iconic streets of Chinatown and the surrounding neighborhoods. Its accessibility makes it an ideal spot for individuals looking to enjoy a high-quality, portable meal while continuing their urban exploration.
A Modern Approach to Street Food
The philosophy behind T-Swirl Crepe is rooted in the belief that street food should be both accessible and refined. By focusing on high-quality ingredients and a specialized cooking method, the establishment elevates the humble crepe into a sophisticated snack. The attention to detail—from the temperature of the griddle to the arrangement of the fillings—demonstrates a commitment to consistency that is often difficult to find in high-traffic urban environments. For those who appreciate the intersection of tradition and innovation, the experience at this Mott Street location offers a refreshing perspective on how global culinary influences can be adapted to fit the dynamic lifestyle of New York City.
Whether you are stopping by for a mid-afternoon pick-me-up or looking for a unique dessert to enjoy while walking through the city, T-Swirl Crepe stands out as a reliable and creative choice. The combination of its distinct rice flour base, the variety of carefully curated fillings, and its prime location in one of New York's most iconic neighborhoods makes it a noteworthy stop for anyone interested in exploring the diverse food landscape of Lower Manhattan. It is a testament to how simple, well-executed ideas can create a lasting impression on the local dining scene.

Good, yummy, and creative crepe place. Even though there weren’t a lot of people, it took some time to get our order - that’s because they make their crepes from scratch and it takes some time. … More

Amazing crepes! This is one of my favorites places in New York. They have a large variety which is great. The store is a little small but still managed to find a good spot. Would definitely recommend having a look.

Crepe was delicious. Had a nice crunchy outside and soft creamy middle. Talk about photogenic. This thing was beautiful. Lots of good flavors and friendly staff. Definitely will return when I’m back in the area. Boy I love crepes. They are the best. Five stars.

The crepes range around from 7 to 8 dollars. The crepes tasted good though I felt it was just a little overpriced for what I paid for. As a customer, you can watch the staff as they make the crepe in front of your eyes. The store is although quite small and can be crowded at times but overall, I had a good experience.

I’ve been hearing about this place a lot so I had to check it out. We were in Chinatown earlier in the morning before this place opened and made a trip back just to try a crepe. We tried the banana Nutella crepe. It was so good!! The crepe was perfectly cooked. I’m going to go back and try a savory crepe before I leave NYC. More

I’ve been here twice with my husband and we really liked the crepes and the service both times. We ordered plain crepes with sugar. The crepes were super crispy, thin and not overly sweet. The staff were very nice. It’s quite a small place but I didn’t mind that at all. Will definitely come back. More

I ordered the wild berries crepe with a scoop of vanilla icecream. It came out to a little over $10. The crepes was pretty good and fairly big (I have small hands so take that into consideration when looking at the pic). I want to try out the savory crepes next time.

I’m tired of those bony french crepes at Chelsea Market which only has thin layers of strawberries, Nutella, and cream in it. This is the real japanese, sumptuous banquet-like crepe that I was always looking for. It has so many ingredients in it, every bite you have different textures and flavors from fruits.

T-Swirl Crepe in Chinatown is my go-to spot whenever I’m craving something sweet, and the Classic Crème Brûlée Strawberry Crepe is always what I order. There’s just something about the combination of rich, creamy crème brûlée and the freshness of the strawberries wrapped in that soft crepe – it’s so satisfying. The brûlée topping adds that perfect little crunch too, which I love.
I’m really happy to see this place in Chinatown because it’s a dessert I truly enjoy. Their area is small so it is really meant for to go order, they offer seats which is two tables and 4 chairs inside. While they do not have any outdoor sitting available. The staff is also delicate with order and fast with their hands so you will probably not wait for long.

Are you ready for some yummy crepes? 😙This place will definitely satisfy your cravings for crepes! Come check this out! The story of T-swirl was originated from Tokyo, inspired by Japanese Crepes. 🤨They serve both sweet and savoury crepes and they are served in either a mini or regular size. 🤩For sweet crepes, they have very attractive flavours, including Fuji Caramel Apple, Lychee Romantic and Chocolate Nut Party (which contains pistachio but does not have a mini size!) 😍This time, I tried their….
🍵Matcha Chocolate Truffles 🍵
This crepe has sliced strawberries, matcha cream, whipped yogurt, crushed Pistachio and most importantly, chocolate truffles! 😉The truffles added an intense spark to the overall flavour, full of chocolate flavour! 😚The fruits really balances out the creamy taste from the truffle, it’s like chocolate with fruits! So yummy! I don’t taste a heavy matcha flavour though but if you are a fan of chocolate and fruit and some matcha, this is definitely your pick! ✌🏻They also have a mini size for this crepe so this is perfect as a snack too!🥰
They have limited seatings inside and outside the store but you can always eat it as you are walking around NYC chinatown! 🫠Thank you for the great hospitality and yummy treat!✨

I've never had a crepe before so I really wasn't expecting much. I thought they would be one of those things that look better than they taste... Boy was I wrong! These looked great but they tasted even better. I'm not sure what kind of magic unicorn tears they are stuffing in these things but it sure is good.
Unfortunately, we opted to share one, which quickly devolved into a fight to get the next bite once we realized how good these were. So get your own, or be prepared to battle for every bite. I am still carrying the scars from that mistake.
We had just eaten a fantastic lunch across the street and hopped in here for dessert. If we hadn't already eaten I would have tried one of their savory crepes, they look delicious.
I will definitely stop by here again if I ever get the chance and I will be darn sure to get my own, screw sharing!

The Litchee crepe was really good. Crispy with generous filling. The fruit was fresh. You can order at the kiosk or directly at the register. The place is small, only two tables, but waiting time wasn't too bad. I'd come back to try other crepes!

Some of the products were almost out, so they were putting fewer ingredients. It wasn't worth it for the money we gave. It was flavorless. We watched how crepes were made in San Francisco for 3 minutes, so here it felt even longer when we had to wait. I ordered the shrimp avocado, and they put only 4 shrimps that were bland. And too much wasabi sauce, so I didn't taste anything else. My friend got the shrimp tempura that was way too spicy and was missing ingredients. And his drink was nothing special too. Maybe this place is way better if you get the sweet crepes, not the savory.

Small, cozy spot with a welcoming atmosphere. The staff were friendly and kind, which made the experience even better.
I got the matcha azuki bean crepe, and it was tasty. The matcha ice cream was especially delicious! I was a bit disappointed that it didn’t come with the chocolate pocky stick like it was advertised, and I wish there was a bit more red bean inside. Still, it was enjoyable overall. My mom got the wild berries crepe, and she really liked it.
A nice place for a sweet treat in Chinatown!

Got the banana and Nutella flavored crepe. Initially tasted fine but started feeling sick after eating a quarter of it. The cream started tasting very sour after eating half of it. Thought I would be fine since I'm usually good with food, but within 10 minutes I had to throw up.
