Discover the Art of Bean-to-Bar Chocolate at Videri
Located in the heart of the Warehouse District at 327 W Davie St, Raleigh, NC, Videri Chocolate Factory stands as a testament to the craft of artisanal chocolate making. Unlike mass-produced confectionery, this establishment focuses on the purity of the cocoa bean, transforming raw ingredients into exquisite bars through a meticulous, transparent process. Visitors stepping into the space are immediately greeted by the rich, complex aroma of roasting cocoa, offering an immersive experience that bridges the gap between the tropical origins of the bean and the final, polished product enjoyed by chocolate enthusiasts.
The philosophy at Videri is rooted in simplicity and quality. By maintaining a bean-to-bar approach, the team oversees every stage of production, from sourcing ethically grown cocoa beans to the final tempering and packaging of each bar. This dedication ensures that the unique flavor profiles inherent in different cocoa origins are preserved and highlighted, providing a tasting experience that is both educational and deeply satisfying for those who appreciate the nuances of fine chocolate.
What Makes the Videri Experience Unique
Transparent Production Process: The factory floor is designed with openness in mind, allowing guests to observe the machinery and the artisans at work. This commitment to transparency demystifies the complex journey from bean to bar, fostering a deeper appreciation for the labor and precision required to create high-quality chocolate.
Commitment to Ethical Sourcing: Sustainability is a core pillar of the operation. By prioritizing direct relationships with cocoa farmers and cooperatives, the factory ensures that the raw materials are sourced responsibly, supporting fair labor practices and environmentally conscious farming methods in the regions where the cocoa is harvested.
Focus on Flavor Purity: The recipes are intentionally minimalist. By using only a few high-quality ingredients, the makers allow the natural characteristics of the cocoa—ranging from fruity and floral notes to deep, earthy undertones—to take center stage without the interference of excessive additives or artificial flavorings.
Community-Centric Atmosphere: Situated in a vibrant corner of Raleigh, the location serves as more than just a production facility. It acts as a gathering space for the local community, inviting residents and visitors alike to learn about the craft, participate in tastings, and engage with a team that is genuinely passionate about the art of chocolate.
Beyond the technical aspects of production, Videri Chocolate Factory embodies a spirit of creativity and curiosity. The team constantly experiments with new batches and flavor combinations, ensuring that there is always something fresh to discover for returning patrons. Whether you are a connoisseur looking to analyze the subtle notes of a single-origin bar or simply someone seeking a high-quality treat in a welcoming environment, the factory offers a sensory journey that celebrates the complexity of one of the world's most beloved ingredients.
Visiting this Raleigh landmark provides a rare opportunity to connect with the food we consume on a fundamental level. By stripping away the industrial layers often found in modern food production, Videri invites us to slow down and savor the craftsmanship behind every bite. It is a destination that honors tradition while embracing modern techniques, making it an essential stop for anyone exploring the culinary landscape of North Carolina.
As you plan your visit to the Warehouse District, consider setting aside time to explore the factory’s offerings. Engaging with the staff, observing the rhythmic hum of the winnowing and conching machines, and sampling the latest creations will undoubtedly change your perspective on what chocolate can be. Videri Chocolate Factory remains a beacon of quality and integrity, proving that when passion meets precision, the result is nothing short of extraordinary.

Smell the chocolate from far away! This is an amazing cute factory. Take a quick tour by yourself to learn and see the process of making their chocolate. Then stop into the tiny store and try their bar chocolate! They have samples for all their varieties and they all taste amazing. It's incredible the different flavor notes you can taste. Definitely worth taking some home with you. Their honey caramel truffles are the BEST. Super friendly staff. Open to questions and very informative.

I almost gave them four stars because it’s so expensive BUT their chocolate is so good..
I have been here multiple times - it makes a great gift, especially because it is made right in Raleigh. They have a good mix of truffle style and bars. Their hot chocolate is really good too!
An added bonus is that they are attached to Black & White Coffee, another great Raleigh company

Chocolate is fantastic. Self guided tour kinda isn't really a tour. But the people were great! Paid tour might be a better option but was not available the day we visited.

Giving them 4 stars because I didn't order anything. I was so excited to try the chocolate but Im not a fan of dark chocolate which is literally the only kind of chocolate they serve. I missed that part. It smells absolutely amazing when … More

Very fun to see how the chocolate is made. And best there is a free tasting after you go through the self guided tour. Just use your phone and watch the videos. They can be a bit long and slow but are showing you every step of the way.

My husband went for a surprise for me yesterday so when I arrived in Raleigh we could have some awesome dessert. The little box of truffles in the picture with two eaten were $16 with tax. They were good but overpriced. It is a nice place and when I walked this morning I saw a man through the windows actually making chocolate. I’m hoping the popcorn is amazing and will try it tonight. I know good chocolate isn’t cheap however I want to be wowed when I spend $3.65 plus tax for one piece. I liked it however I didn’t love it and I’m a dark chocolate fan. We purchased five single origins chocolate bars and I’m hoping they impress a little bit more.

We were excited to visit but were very let down with the experience. Very small space, very limited chocolate offerings and the ice cream we read so much about in other reviews? It was boring flavorless soft serve. I really don’t understand the hype. We ordered a couple truffles, and they were nothing special.
They will validate parking but when you arrive there is no way to know that.
Overall, would not recommend stopping unless you’re already in the area.

It was nice. Only thing when you go there you just go for tour without guide and you do not understand where they make what and how it process. If there is a person can give some little detail how every thing process that it would be good. We enjoyed the chocolate sample test and we bought some chocolate from that I really like the spicy which gives you little kick in your mouth after sweetness. I am a spicy eater so I loved it.

Videri Chocolate Factory was such a nice place to visit! I love local spots and chocolate, so this was the perfect stop. The staff was incredibly friendly and took the time to explain the samples, drinks, tour, and scavenger hunt. The self-guided tour was great the clipboard had clear information for each stop, making it easy and interesting to follow along.
The scavenger hunt was a lot of fun, and the kids really enjoyed doing it. We tried chocolate and ice cream samples, which everyone loved. We ended up buying some chocolate bars to take home, and I love that everything is made right there. It was really cool being able to see the entire bean-to-bar process. Such a fun and educational experience for both kids and adults!

Our last stop before leaving the town! They have really fascinating and elaborate chocolate making machines and educate us every step of the way. You can smell very fragrant and nice chocolate smell the moment you walked through the shop. You can ask for samples too! The lady there was very nice and willing to share more about the chocolates that you're getting. We also got sipping chocolate, which is really interesting because I never had sipping chocolate before! It was thick, a little tangy, but a really nice flavor.

Excellent place to stop for a sweet treat or a well-crafted coffee. Service was friendly and great, but not super fast. We walked over from the convention center for a bit of fresh air and quiet, and enjoyed sitting on the patio with our soft serve ice cream and coffee!

If you love chocolate, this is a place you should go. They have various chocolate candy flavors to choose from. They had some interesting flavor combinations when we went.
Their ice cream is yummy and you can also get coffee there. It's also nice that you can walk around and, depending on the day, you can see them make the chocolate.

Videri chocolate factory is divine. They actually make their chocolates here in this building. You’re able to tour the facility and if you participate in a scavenger hunt you get a chocolate treat for completing it. You’re also able to sample their chocolates, and they have a healthy variety. Most of their chocolates are dairy free. Videri sells chocolates and soft serve ice cream, while inside the same building there is Black and White which sells coffee. The sitting area inside is cozy and they have free WiFi. There is also a nice patio area to sit beside the building and also some benches outside of the entrance. This is a high quality and super friendly local business. They sell the perfect chocolate gifts for your loved ones. If you’re in the area you definitely need to treat yourself here.

The chocolate is phenomenal.
We loved sampling each one and enjoying the depth of flavors. It was like a wine tasting but with chocolate. The gentleman who helped us (owner maybe?) was so knowledgeable and gave such a lovely presentation. We loved the education, chocolate, and overall experience. In addition to the single origin chocolate bars, we also got one made with a local dry hot sauce. I love local relationships and products and HOT FOODS, so this was a fantastic treat for me. The scotch bonnet finish is incredible. We will definitely be back whenever we're in Raleigh!

The building looks beautiful from outside and when you go inside its even prettier and feels very cozy. Inside can tour the little factory and learn about the process of making chocolate from coca seeds. They promote and promise their chocolate is ethically sourced and tastes absolutely delicious with variety of falvours they have! There is a coffee shop inside you can coffee beverages from. Will be visiting again soon!

This is a wonderful, cozy spot for coffee and chocolate, but the real star is the handmade soft serve. I highly recommend the swirl—it was absolutely delicious! Topped with whipped cream and blueberry jam, it's an unforgettable treat.

first time coming in and the chocolate was pretty good! they make them in house which is neat. i liked the lemon chocolate the most. the others were good but a little too rich for my taste.
the ice cream with toffee was probably my favorite. soft served ice cream with crunchy bits of toffee.
it is on the pricey side but i still
enjoyed my experience and the food items nonetheless. the outdoor seating is nice and is dog friendly.

I like what they have going on there but I was not ready for those prices. 2.1 ounces of chocolate for $10+ is out of my price range. I wanted chocolate to make hot chocolate with. I had called and person I spoke with was super helpful. They gave me some pointers and told me they sell their own hot chocolate mix. Black & White coffee serves it. I went down to try some. I wasn't a fan. It felt lacking in flavor but the presentation was lovely. Overall, this is a pretty cool spot but I just couldn't get over the pricing.

A cute little chocolate shop with a great range of treats — from chocolate snacks to coffees and ice cream. You can even walk around and see the different machines they use to make their chocolate, along with informative signs showing how cacao and coffee beans are made.
I went with the chocolate soft serve ice cream covered in cookie dough, and it was absolutely delicious!
Would definitely go back. 🍫🍦
