Wow, Wow, Wow.
For the last 3 months, I have dined here at least 7 times with family and friends all very happy and leaving with full bellies of nice quality foods.
Having experienced both the lunch specials along with the rolls and even dinner entrees, you truly can’t go wrong with someplace like Blufish.
The lunch special is for sure a standout served Monday - Friday with items being around 20 bucks after tax. In my opinion, great deal!! Not only do you get the main, but you also get a spicy tuna roll, fried rice, sweet and sour chicken with soup or salad. Everything is pretty good on the lunch with my only critique that the entree meat is on the smaller side. It is though made up by the quantity of items served with.
My only other ask is if we can get the recipe for the dressing?! From all the Japanese restaurants we have tried in the Chicagoland area, their dressing is by far a favorite of ours.
We have tried a few of the rolls but they are just okay. Not one has completely stood out to us, but it is possible we just aren’t ordering good ones. Dragons were nice but the mozzarella one was a little off putting as the cheese wasn’t melted.
As for the best quality item to get here is always the sashimi lunch / dinner. The raw fish always tastes super fresh and for a good price you get so many pieces. I do wish sometimes I knew what I was eating :)
BluFish is located in strip mall with ample parking and outdoor seating. Generally, services has always been good for the served, but the bartender is a huge standout. My only negative experience would be from the host who was quite off putting on a Saturday afternoon.
There are more positive ways to greet guests and she did not do that. The restaurant was also empty at that time and I don’t think having a small quiet puppy in its carrier is an issue…
All in all it’s a nice place. Best of the 4 locations I believe that they have. Check them out!

Blufish is a hit in our house, the go-to for sushi. What stands out? The fish-to-rice ratio—it’s just perfect, ensuring every bite is packed with fresh, delicious fish. We’re big fans of their nigiri and usually pick a roll or two to … More

Bluish Sushi delivered a really solid experience. The lunch special is an excellent value—generous portions and great variety without feeling heavy. The chirashi was especially impressive: fresh, clean flavors that really hit the spot. Service was friendly and the atmosphere relaxed. Not quite a five‑star wow, but definitely a place I’d come back to for a satisfying sushi fix.

I ordered takeout and was very satisfied with the fish and sushi quality. The presentation was visually appealing and the taste hit just right. Both my girlfriend and I enjoyed the suhi rolls. They have some nice signature rolls as well as the classics. Get the rolls with Serrano if you want some heat! More

This is a great place for a family meal. The menu is very extensive, and the service is excellent. Their Tamago is simple and perfect. My favorite thing on the menu is the Crunchy California roll...it's unreal. A California roll that they deep fry...🤯 Do not skip this place if you're in town !!!

While the atmosphere is very nice and the service is welcoming, the food didn’t match expectations and is on the expensive side. It tries to be a sushi spot and a standard bistro (we had salmon and seabass dishes). Neither was great. The fish does not taste as fresh as it should be. The sushi rolls are weirdly oversized. The rice and flavors are not right - compared to other sushi places. Bigger fish and thicker rice does not make it better. The cooked fish dishes were meh. The accompanying vegetables were fresh, but in too much oil. The sushi rolls were definitely someone’s reimagining of good sushi. So, don’t expect sushi like from a traditional Japanese restaurant.
The menu of maki rolls is confusing and has no pictures. The server was completely unable to answer the question of how large the rolls are. So ordering felt a bit uninformed and we ended up with too much.
On a positive note, the wine and appetizers were very good.

I can see this place is very popular, it was absolutely packed. It’s not for us however. As the name would suggest, it’s a sushi place, but the sushi wasn’t right. The sashimi was too thick, the rice for the rolls didn’t quite work. When we would ask the server to remove our plates that were essentially untouched, he never asked if there was anything wrong, and we didn’t bother complaining. The tempura udon soup was perfect however, it’s a standard to inspire to for the restaurant. We won’t return to be honest. But objectively the ambiance is great, and the servers do try hard to ensure you have a good experience. They do seem understaffed and somewhat overwhelmed however.
