What Makes Bongiorno's a Local Favorite
When dining at Bongiorno's, guests can expect a menu that emphasizes the fundamental pillars of Italian gastronomy. The kitchen prioritizes freshness and balance, ensuring that each plate served is both satisfying and representative of the regional influences that define Italian cuisine. Below are several aspects that contribute to the unique character of this Chicago establishment:
Authentic Pizza Craftsmanship: The pizzeria section of the kitchen is dedicated to the art of the perfect crust. Using traditional methods, the chefs create pizzas that balance a crisp exterior with a tender, airy interior, topped with high-quality ingredients that highlight the natural flavors of the produce and cheeses.
A Focus on Traditional Pasta Dishes: The menu features a variety of pasta preparations that showcase the versatility of Italian cooking. From rich, slow-simmered sauces to lighter, herb-infused options, the pasta is cooked to the ideal texture, providing a comforting experience that feels like a home-cooked meal.
Prime Location in Downtown Chicago: Situated on N Wabash Ave, the restaurant is perfectly positioned for those navigating the city. Its proximity to major landmarks and residential hubs makes it a convenient stop for anyone looking to refuel after a day of sightseeing or a busy afternoon of work in the city center.
A Welcoming and Approachable Atmosphere: The environment is intentionally crafted to be inclusive and friendly. The staff focuses on providing attentive service that enhances the dining experience without being intrusive, allowing guests to focus on their conversation and their food in a relaxed setting.
Beyond the specific items on the menu, the restaurant prides itself on being a part of the local community fabric. The team understands that the success of a dining establishment is measured not just by the quality of the food, but by the relationships built with the people who walk through the doors. This community-centric approach is evident in the way the space is managed and the care taken in preparing every order, ensuring that each guest feels valued from the moment they arrive until they depart.
The culinary landscape of Chicago is vast and diverse, yet there remains a timeless appeal to the straightforward, honest cooking found at Bongiorno's. By avoiding unnecessary complexity and focusing on the integrity of the ingredients, the restaurant manages to provide a dining experience that is both familiar and consistently enjoyable. It serves as a reminder that sometimes the best meals are those that rely on classic combinations, executed with care and served in a space that feels like a true extension of the neighborhood.

Loved the experience. A friend just bought this restaurant and I have to say I would highly recommend a visit. I'm not sure if I appreciated the service or the food more both were spectacular. The restaurant is nestled right behind the Trump Tower in downtown Chicago. More

Food was great. Great pizza crust! We had the Windy City special (beef and giardiniera). Daughter had the pasta and it was very good. Great table service. Great staff. Too bad it started raining and patio was closed but in the end worth it!

It is such a cozy and welcoming spot for authentic Italian food in downtown Chicago. I had the lasagna — so delicious yet light — and the eggplant rolls were incredible, truly homemade and full of flavor. The homemade gelato was the perfect finish.
The pizza was so good that even though I don’t usually eat pizza, we ordered it again 😄 That says everything. Add in warm, friendly service and a charming atmosphere, and this place really feels special.
Highly recommend if you’re looking for a great Italian restaurant in Chicago — I’ll definitely be back! 🇮🇹🍝🍕

The food and service here is always wonderful! 💯 The Chicken Parmesan was amazing and the Tiramisu was some of the best I have had (and I am very picky about Tiramisu). The food here is cooked perfectly and the sauce is amazing. The service is also good.
I usually come in the warm weather and sit outside but this time it was too cold. The location is great if you are near this area. It's like a hidden gem 💎
Sorry my video only shows half the food- I forgot and ate it too fast! The presentation is better than my photo and video show but all I can think about is digging in to eat when it hits my table I always forget to get a good photo!

My mother is soy free and can't have soy bean oil. Here they fry the chicken parm in olive oil which is great news for her!

If you’re looking for real-deal Italian flavor in every bite, Bongiorno’s Cucina is the spot. I’ve eaten here plenty of times, and every single visit reminds me why it’s one of the best pizzerias around.
I had the sausage pizza and the chicken Caesar today, and both were on point.
The pizza has that perfect balance — a light, crispy crust with just enough chew, rich tomato sauce, bubbling melted cheese, and sausage that actually tastes fresh and homemade. No shortcuts here. Every bite has that classic New York–style snap and char that keeps you coming back.
The chicken Caesar is another standout. The chicken is breaded and seasoned perfectly, sliced thick, and still juicy. Paired with crisp romaine, creamy dressing, and just the right amount of Parmesan, it turns a simple salad into something memorable.
Great food, great people, consistent quality — Bongiorno’s is the kind of neighborhood Italian spot you can recommend to anybody with confidence. Definitely worth the visit.

Cozy atmosphere with delicious food. The staff was all very friendly. We tried the cheesy garlic bread, a Caesar salad, and a 10 inch pepperoni. Everything was fresh and yummy. We also tried the cannoli, while it was good and had interesting flavor, it was not what I had in mind when ordering. I would probably go for some of the gelato I saw next time for a sweet treat.

I don’t often write reviews, but wow, I feel like I have no choice. I’ll be brief, but the service was excellent, food and drinks came out quick and were AMAZING, and everything was fairly priced. The complete package. Gio was a phenomenal server, and an even better bartender. I've had espresso martinis in most major cities in the US—and Chicago is no exception. I prefer them to be served light, but dark is fine too, if that’s how the bartender prefers to serve it. But wow. Gio’s dark espresso martini was BY FAR the best espresso martini I’ve ever had. And it was DARK.
I’m not even going to talk about the pizza, because it speaks for itself—just look at the pictures. Fresh mozzarella and fresh basil, perfectly cooked. This place puts Giordano’s and Uno’s to shame.
A restaurant that checks the boxes for service, price, and taste doesn’t come around very often, but Bongiorno’s absolutely hits the mark. Special shoutout to Gio—I’m still dreaming about that espresso martini…

It's inside the Plaza building next to Trump tower. If you're going by foot, GPS doesn't do a good job of letting you know that it's a suite inside of a building—sort of like a shop in a mall.
