My very late birthday meal courtesy of my son. He chose a southern affair restaurant. Everything was delicious from their Southern Flower drink to the appetizers, main courses, extras and desserts. Rog was our wonderful server. She took the time to recommend the best of all the available menu options. 5 stars for her helpful service and good attitude. Thank you!

Read a lot about this place before coming to Chicago, so had to try it out!
Food - 4.5/5
Cornbread - 4/5 - This was really good and the butter was so tasty, however, I think there’s a bit too much. It would be better with maybe like a tablespoon or two of butter, in my opinion.
Mac and Cheese - 4/5 - it was really tasty, but tooooo rich - you honestly can’t eat more than one or two bites of this. The first few are great and then you really feel it.
Beef Short Rib - 4.5/5 - the best beef short rib I’ve ever had. This was so tasty, and had the perfect texture… I enjoyed every bite.
Service - 5/5 - Everyone was friendly and helpful, really appreciate the good service.
Ambiance - 5/5 - Nice lighting, good character and feel.. perfect for a date or a night out.
I’d definitely come back, thanks for a great experience!

The Service at Virtue was super friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and very filling. The mocktail I had was so good. It was like a fizzy fruit punch. The Fish and Grits was flavorful. The NY Strip was cooked beautifully, the sauce that accompanied it added to the steak to make it wonderfully complete dish. More

The atmosphere was wonderful, and the service was exceptional. Our server was highly attentive in a way that felt genuinely thoughtful. Unfortunately, the food did not meet my expectations given the high prices. Portion sizes were on the smaller side and the flavors were somewhat lackluster. For example, the salmon was cooked perfectly, but the seasoning was minimal and the portion was very small—and to feel satisfied, you’d likely need to order additional "extra rotations."
I was also extremely disappointed by the limited allergy-friendly options. While the waiter did ask about allergies and attempted substitutions, the execution was not strong enough to prevent potential cross-contamination (though he did give a clear warning).
Overall, I’d still recommend trying this restaurant at least once because the staff and atmosphere truly shine, but I personally would not return.

Being from Milwaukee, I hadn't heard about Virtue until I was searching TikTok looking for a place to go over the holidays. Let me just say, from start to finish my experience was immaculate.
The flavor profiles of the food was both familiar and elevated. The service perfection. Every table received their food with well timed perfection.
I took a slice of sweet potato pie home. My only sadness is I didn't taste it until I got home. I would have order multple desserts to go.

Parking is really Hunger Game style. But we were dropped off. However, my friend noted there was a garage or lot close. I am unsure of it was free or paid. I assume paid.

You guys are the standard of excellence! Starting with the front of the house! We entered virtue with warm greetings. All of the staff worked in sync with eachother which resulted in a smooth dinning experience! Our server was excellent he had the menu memorized to the point when he was going word for word with the menu. We started off with the fried green tomatoes and gumbo... it was cold outside and the gumbo was perfect that it warmed your insides up. Then it was our entrees which was the blackened catfish and the beef short ribs both very flavorful! The mac and cheese in my opinion is the best mac in the city! The greens reminded you of your grandmother's Sunday cooking. For dessert we had some banana pudding which was a perfect finish for a filling dinner! Ohhhh the drinks!! I can't forget the drinks! My wife had a rum punch that was so good we almost requested for a bottle of it to take home! I originally wanted a old fashioned which is my favorite cocktail BUT Alot of places don't make their old fashioned like i do so I switched it up and got a cocktail named the uncle honey which was made out of uncle nearest whiskey. All in all virtue is a place that everyone should get a chance to experience! Virtue is a conversation starter type of place basically when its mentioned it'll setup for a great convo. I highly recommend 10/10

The first thing I have to bring up is our server, Freddy. He was hands down the absolute best server we’ve ever had in our whole lives. The attentiveness, kindness, and thorough answers to all of our questions was insane. We never once had to ask for anything. I dropped my knife once and not even two seconds later, before I had the chance to even look up from the floor where I dropped it, here he was with an extra one. Just amazing.
A great thing about never having to ask for anything was that we got to enjoy the delectable food completely uninterrupted. The appetizers were amazing. The biscuits were buttery soft on the inside, flaky crisp on the outside, not too dense, not too airy. Just perfect, and the pimento cheese they came with were just the right addition. The green tomatoes with shrimp was one of those bites of food were the combination of flavors works so perfectly that you can barely tell what’s what. HIGHLY RECOMMEND that one. We also got the seasonal Sunchoke salad. I thought I didn’t know what sunchoke was but as soon as it came to the table I realized that I actually had and did not like it. To my surprise, though, I had a completely different experience with sunchoke this time around. Yet another perfect blend of flavors.
As for the main courses, we got the blackened catfish and the chicken. The catfish was the most well cooked soft, buttery fish I’ve had in my life. Had zero bad fishy taste. The BBQ carrots were something I’d been excited for and they delivered. The chicken was hands down the best thing we ate. It was ridiculous it was so good. I have no words truly. The mac and cheese was perfect. Just perfect.
For dessert, we had peach cobbler and apple bread pudding. They were great, but not anything crazy. We’d had Kasama pastries earlier in the day so maybe we were just biased. Still a wonderful end to the night.
