I can’t express how much i admire Gorée. It’s such a beautiful space to feast whether you’re by yourself, with family, or friends. In addition to Gorée being black owned by Adama Ba.
I dine here at least once a month, but as of late it’s been weekly!
Gorée is the ultimate experience, as it feels like home. The service is phenomenal, the ambiance is warm, the dishes are immaculate. And chefs don’t come to play!
The cuisines are vibrant, and plated with intention, while seasoned to perfection. With savory bites, derived from recipes straight from Senegal.
I can feel the recipes come from tradition, love, culture, and family.
As a Southside Chicagoan, Gorée is definitely a forever staple for me.
Adama, the owner is for the people and it’s evident through his devotion for food, but more importantly his passion for serving the community.

100/10 I had Mint Tea, Fataya, and Yassa Lamb. Everything was so delicious. Fast service for the level of exceptional quality.(you can’t really rush W. African food anyways) Flavor was perfect and spicy. The tea was refreshing even though it’s served hot. Goree made it to my top 5 restaurants in Chicago. More

Absolutely delicious. We had salmon, lamb, chicken, a salad, cabbage, and plantains. EVERYTHING was great--well seasoned, tender, and just spicy enough. The cabbage was so good, I'd drive well out of my way to get it.

This was my first time at Goree, and I was very impressed. The food was excellent—especially the lamb, which was incredibly tasty. I also really enjoyed the yassa fish and the saka saka.

The food is excellent. We had the Saka Saka, jollof rice with plantains, however, the Saka Saka didn’t have shrimp and crab meet in it thought. Just FYI. There was no chicken so we also got the Yassa Lamb and Dibi Lamb. Everything tasted delicious. They usually only have 1 person as the waiter and server so if it’s busy, there would be a long wait

Truly exceptional and authentic west African cuisine. Make sure you try the attieke. The tilapia was 🧑🍳.
The lamb was soft and full of flavor and absolutely try the curry. Too bad we are out of towners otherwise we would be regulars.
And I really liked the wall art. All black American heroes represented.
